About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage global trademark filings and prosecution
- Manage and support trademark and copyright disputes, including oppositions, enforcement litigations, domain name disputes, online takedown actions, and proactive trademark and copyright protection
- Advise business stakeholders on trademark, marketing, and advertising matters
- Provide strategic recommendations and risk assessments
- Manage and support IP transactional matters, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating licensing, settlement, evaluation, and collaboration agreements
- Serve as a subject matter expert on IP-related issues
- Partner with legal colleagues on licensing, exclusivity, prosecution, enforcement, confidentiality, indemnification, ownership, and commercialization matters
- Manage outside counsel and assess performance, quality, efficiency, and strategic alignment
- Identify, analyze, and resolve complex IP legal issues
- Lead or contribute to multi-stakeholder projects with clear written analysis and practical recommendations
- Stay current on relevant developments and share specialty knowledge with colleagues
- Contribute to litigation, dispute, and enforcement-related matters
- Support matters affecting multiple teams and contribute to operational and strategic plans
Requirements
What you’ll need- Licensed attorney with meaningful trademark experience
- Typically 4-7 years of relevant legal experience in IP
- Strong understanding of global trademark and copyright law
- Experience with global portfolio management
- Knowledge of IP ownership and related risk mitigation
- Strong collaboration, communication, and influencing skills
- Prior in-house experience at a global company, or law firm experience advising global companies (preferred)
- Experience supporting IP-sensitive transactions involving customers, suppliers, partners, competitors, or government-funded projects (preferred)
- Experience with marketing, advertising, copyright, enforcement, domain name, or online brand-protection matters (preferred)
