About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Create, design, develop, test, and deliver authentication features for smart‑chip–based print products
Define and implement secure authentication protocols between supplies and printers
Collaborate with firmware, ASIC/microcontroller vendors, HP product teams, and cryptography teams on secure implementations
Support threat modeling and attack analysis related to counterfeit and aftermarket supplies
Drive authentication requirements into new product introductions (NPI)
Partner with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure robust deployment
Support field issues related to authentication failures or security events
Support IP enforcement activity

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
7-10 years of experience developing firmware or software
Experience with embedded systems, secure microcontrollers, or firmware-integrated hardware
Working knowledge of authentication, security protocols, or cryptographic concepts
Ability to work cross-functionally across hardware, firmware, security, and manufacturing teams
