About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve annual revenue and growth objectives
  • Generate new business through networking, referrals, centers of influence, and targeted prospecting
  • Build relationships with C-suite executives, HR leaders, CFOs, and business owners
  • Conduct consultative client meetings covering employee benefits, talent attraction and retention, wellbeing, compensation strategy, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness
  • Develop and deliver proposals, presentations, and business cases demonstrating measurable client value
  • Partner with employee benefits, retirement, actuarial, wellbeing, compliance, analytics, and consulting specialists
  • Lead sales and renewal strategy discussions and expand service offerings
  • Monitor market trends, workforce challenges, healthcare cost drivers, labor market dynamics, and regulatory developments
  • Collaborate with service teams to ensure exceptional client experiences and long-term retention
  • Use CRM systems and sales analytics to manage pipeline activity, forecast revenue, and track business development
  • Represent Howden at industry conferences, networking events, and client functions
  • Mentor junior producers and business development professionals where appropriate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of successful business development, producer, consultant, advisory, employee benefits, workforce solutions, human capital consulting, HR technology, retirement consulting, or related experience
  • Demonstrated track record of generating new business revenue and developing long-term client relationships
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits and workforce-related solutions
  • Consultative selling approach and ability to engage senior business leaders in strategic discussions
  • Ability to identify complex workforce challenges and develop tailored solutions
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills
  • Strong organizational and pipeline management capabilities
  • Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce or similar systems
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for growth and client advocacy
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple service lines and disciplines
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Active Life, Accident & Health License, or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Experience working with middle market and large employer clients preferred
  • Established network within the employer, HR, benefits, or business leadership community preferred
  • CEBS, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, HRCI, CLU, ChFC, or other industry certifications preferred
