Act as the financial strategist and partner for 20–30 small law firm clients as a Fractional CFO.
Meet virtually with each client twice per month (~60 hours/month direct client time).
Analyze financial statements and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Translate financial concepts into clear, actionable steps and hold clients accountable for execution.
Collaborate with bookkeepers to correct errors and ensure clean data.
Participate in pod meetings and company training.
Guide improvements in financial systems, controls, and processes.
Travel occasionally for live events (optional, unless training is required).
Workload: ~40–45 hours/week, fully remote, with meaningful impact.
Requirements
Proven experience in professional service-based businesses such as Accounting, Financial Advisory, Law Firms/Legal Services, Estate Planning, or Engineering.
Have held a Senior Accountant, Director, Controller, or CFO role in a company with $20M–$50M revenue.
Stable track record (5+ years of tenure at most prior companies).
Successfully guided small to midsized businesses through financial challenges and growth.
Comfortable bringing clarity to disorganized books and creating structure from chaos.
Have managed teams of 5+ people.
Lead with accountability, strategy, and integrity—not just cost-cutting.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting (CPA preferred).
10+ years of progressive financial leadership (CFO, Controller, or equivalent).
Deep expertise in FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Track record of building financial models and dashboards that drive action.
High EQ and a coaching-oriented leadership style.
Must reside in one of the following states: AZ, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NY, PA, TX, VA, WA.
