About the role
- Obtain and record eligibility and benefit information for patients
- Confirm authorizations and complete admission notifications
- Calculate patient liability and generate estimates
- Communicate with patients, co-workers, insurance companies, and physicians
- Monitor and track authorizations, including ensuring accurate CPT codes
- Respond promptly to requests and maintain open communication regarding financial clearance status
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent education
- One year of healthcare experience which must have included insurance verification
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office components
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care reimbursement methodologies
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time
- Working knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 or ICD-10 preferred.
