About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as the senior technical leader for Groups Shopping
Lead the hotel discovery, scoring, ranking, and selection architecture
Improve property ranking using behavioral data, response signals, fit signals, and LLM reasoning
Scale Groups systems for an order-of-magnitude increase in volume
Define and ship AI-powered organizer experiences for searching, comparing, and deciding
Set the team’s technical quality bar through code reviews, design reviews, and abstraction decisions
Establish agentic coding workflows and define AI product tools, prompts, skills, and LLM ownership
Own significant AWS and CI/CD infrastructure decisions and improve deployment pipelines
Mentor senior engineers, run design reviews, write technical documentation, and support other teams

Requirements

What you’ll need

Production experience with TypeScript and Node at scale; ability to become productive in the stack within weeks
Active daily use of agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor
Deep AWS and CI/CD expertise, including debugging ECS services, infrastructure as code, and improving CI pipelines
Ability to write technical documentation for product managers, lead design discussions with staff engineers, and explain trade-offs to senior leaders
Prior experience leading and running a team as the most senior engineer, without being a manager
Nice-to-have: deep TypeScript/Node internals, performance, and type-system fluency
Nice-to-have: product experience and ability to think from the customer’s perspective
Nice-to-have: travel, hospitality, or marketplace background
Nice-to-have: React Native familiarity
