About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide nursing care in the operating-room setting across 3+ campuses in the Network Float Pool
- Collect and analyze patient health data and develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized plans of care
- Initiate treatments, medications, emergency and resuscitative measures according to standing orders, policies, and procedures
- Administer medications, therapies, treatments, IV fluids, blood, and blood products
- Monitor patients and document observations, interventions, therapeutic measures, and multisystem data
- Educate patients and families about illnesses, injuries, post-treatment care, diet, nutrition, exercise, medications, and therapy
- Evaluate patient progress and the quality and effectiveness of care plans
- Collaborate with physicians, clinicians, patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Provide direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides and delegate appropriately
- Precept new hires and students and support competency development
- Participate in evidence-based research and improve nursing practice and patient outcomes
- Develop and evaluate evidence-based standards of care
- Consider safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering care
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 2 years' experience as a RN in an OR setting required
- 1 year RN experience required for all Float Positions
- More than 10 months of med-surg or acute specialty setting experience required
- Associate's or Diploma in Nursing required
- All Diploma and ADN hires must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire, or have 5 or more years of Registered Nurse experience at the time of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Current registered nurse licensure in Arizona or a compact state required upon hire
- National certification for the unit-specific patient population preferred
- Stroke-specific education requirements apply before start for staff with direct responsibility for stroke patients
- Ability to work full-time days, Monday-Friday, 80 hours per pay period, with 8-10 hour day and mid shifts
- Ability to float to 3+ campuses
