About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own, maintain, and priorities the product backlog, ensuring alignment with product strategy, customer needs, business priorities, and technical dependencies.
- Translate business, customer, and technical requirements into clear, actionable user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.
- Lead Agile delivery activities including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and ongoing release management.
- Work closely with Product Managers, Engineering, Architecture, QA, and UX teams to drive successful product outcomes.
- Define MVPs and break down complex initiatives into deliverable increments that provide measurable business value.
- Ensure backlog readiness, delivery quality, and successful validation of completed features prior to release.
- Provide expertise in Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), HVAC controls, smart building technologies, and enterprise building platforms.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on software architecture, integrations, cloud connectivity, edge devices, telemetry, and data acquisition requirements.
- Support integration of building systems through protocols and technologies including BACnet, Modbus, MQTT, APIs, and connected control platforms.
- Contribute to the development of smarter, safer, and more sustainable buildings through innovation in IoT, energy optimisation, analytics, and smart building solutions.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3-5 years' experience as a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner, or similar role within Agile software delivery environments.
- Demonstrated experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), Industrial IoT, HVAC controls, energy management systems, or smart building technologies.
- Strong understanding of building automation protocols and integrations, including BACnet/IP, Modbus, MQTT, APIs, and connected control platforms.
- Proficiency with Jira and Confluence, including backlog management, sprint planning, refinement, user story development, and release tracking
- Domain: Building Automation, Building Management Systems, IoT-enabled controls, HVAC, energy management, or smart buildings
