Mental Health Therapist, Bilingual French
Homewood HealthBilingual Mental Health Therapist providing clinical support and assessments within a collaborative team. Delivering EFAP services and conducting risk assessments in a growing mental health organization.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide EAP services and other clinical services as required, including confidential counseling, case management, direct clinical services, and assessments
- Conduct prompt, efficient telephone assessments via queued calls and the Meet Now function for concerns related to client behavior and emotional health, family and wellbeing, workplace issues and other personal matters, including crisis situations
- Offer practical, actionable strategies that clients can implement independently
- Accept case assignments, develop treatment plans, complete case progress notes and determine case closure through the clinical supervisor
- Develop specific action plans with each client under regular supervision
- Perform comprehensive psychosocial assessments of clients when necessary
- Carry out risk assessments and support interventions to prevent suicide or other risks
- Complete intervention notes and any other follow-up documentation as required
- Maintain established service levels and direct service objectives
- Consult the Stay at Work clinical management team as needed and collaborate with colleagues to ensure timely and effective service delivery
- Facilitate workshops as required and where personal skills and availability permit
- May also provide Crisis Management Services (CMS) upon request.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree in Counselling, Social Work, or Psychology
- Registered and in good standing with the relevant regulatory body as a Social Worker, Psychologist, Registered Clinical Counsellor, or Canadian Certified Counsellor
- 2–3 years of clinical experience across a continuum of mental health and situational issues, including training and experience in short-term solution-focused and/or cognitive behavioral therapies
- Experience with crisis helplines, telephone counseling, and/or EAP preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and active listening in both English and French
- Skills in risk assessment, online research, and demonstrated resourcefulness in locating and accessing emergency and/or community resources across Canada
- Empathetic listener with exceptional client service skills in person and by phone
- Flexible and creative approach to single-session counseling; motivated to help create immediate change by focusing on client strengths
- Awareness of and appreciation for measurement-based care to guide clinical decision-making; experience is an asset
- English language proficiency required, as this role supports, communicates with, and/or collaborates with English- and French-speaking clients and colleagues nationally.
