About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide troubleshooting support for water heater, plumbing, garage door, irrigation, and electrical issues
- Perform home repairs including carpentry, drywall, roofing, and fencing
- Ensure HVAC systems are operational and perform system tune-ups
- Maintain equipment in a clean, orderly, and functional condition
- Update and complete mobile work orders from the maintenance center within the required timeframe
- Engage regularly with vendors and tenants
- Perform field maintenance tasks at AMH properties while maintaining a clean and safe work environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma/GED preferred
- Associate degree or technical training certification is a plus
- Minimum two years of experience in Residential/Property Maintenance or related field required, or five years of experience in lieu of education
- Valid driver's license required
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools
- Experience with an Apple iPad and HVAC preferred
- Universal EPA Certification or HVAC Type II Certification required in applicable states
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and OSHA safety methods
- Excellent verbal and written communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask, exercise discretion and independent judgment, work in a team environment, pay close attention to detail, and adapt to a changing environment
- Proficiency in English, basic measurement and calculations
- Ability to physically maneuver 300 lbs
- Ability to lift/carry 75 pounds to waist height, 75 pounds to shoulder height, and 20 pounds above the head
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and climb A-frame and extension ladders
