About the role

  • This role leads the design and operation of a modern, integrated data governance strategy that ensures our data is trusted, compliant, and well documented across Homeprotect.
  • As part of the Data team, you will set and implement the standards, policies, and frameworks that underpin our analytics, ML, and AI roadmap, while fostering a culture of data‑driven decision‑making.
  • You will work closely with Data Engineering and business stakeholders to define clear data ownership and stewardship, enable responsible access to data, and elevate data literacy across the organisation.
  • The role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on delivery.
  • The analyst will report to the Head of Portfolio Underwriting, and will support in analysing our portfolio and our net pricing, recommending changes and then supporting the deployment of those changes whether it be overlaying new/existing models, segmented or product-driven changes.
  • In a day to day sense you will be monitoring the underwriting performance of our portfolio, identifying issues down to customer segment level, and then proposing solutions to address performance.

Requirements

  • Strong technical expertise in pricing & portfolio management methodologies, particularly within general insurance.
  • You understand the key methods for tracking risk portfolio performance – AP/TP ratio, RMI, AvEs & Various forms of development triangles
  • You have experience building, overlaying and deployment of technical pricing models – using both GLM and GBMs.
  • Ability to work independently in a start-up-like environment, with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
  • Support the team to forecasting loss ratio performance
  • No management experience is required, but there are opportunities to mentor pricing analysts within the team.
  • Hands on experience handling and interpreting data relating to Pricing & Portfolio Management.
  • A minimum of 3 years personal lines insurance pricing/actuarial experience
  • You have strong understanding of Home Insurance market. Not only just in pricing, but also supported by a good understanding of Home Insurance products and emerging risks/opportunities of them.
  • Comfortable working with technology and code – while SQL and R are critical, to do the job well you may need to pick up a basic understanding of Java, as our rating systems are all built in house.
  • A good communicator – changes to pricing have significant impact so we want someone who is comfortable explaining them to various stakeholders.
