About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Overseeing and administering the site safety, occupational health, and industrial hygiene functions in support of DHS facility operations and maintenance (O&M) activities
- Ensure full compliance with applicable federal regulations, safety standards, and performance metrics
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for the contractor’s safety management program and ensure all work is performed in accordance with contract requirements
- Develop, implement, administer, and continuously improve the site Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and overall safety management program
- Conduct thorough hazard analyses, identify workplace risks, and develop effective hazard mitigation and control measures
- Perform regular safety inspections, audits, and assessments of both contractor and subcontractor activities
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare comprehensive reports and recommend corrective actions
- Coordinate and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and remedial instruction as necessary to maintain a safety-first culture
- Maintain all required safety documentation, certifications, training records, and compliance reporting
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of five (5) years of continuous experience supervising or managing safety programs within general industry, construction, or facility O&M environments
- Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry Safety Training certification/card
- Demonstrated completion of at least eight (8) hours of formal safety and health-related training annually for the past five (5) years
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations, EM 385-1-1 requirements, and government contract compliance standards
- Expertise in conducting hazard analyses and developing mitigation strategies
- Experience implementing and administering Quality Control Programs specifically for facility operations, maintenance, or construction contracts
- Proven ability to manage contractor and subcontractor compliance with rigorous safety and quality requirements
- Excellent skills in delivering safety training and acting as the primary liaison for safety programs with federal agencies and stakeholders
- Ability to supervise and manage comprehensive safety programs within general industry or construction environments.
