About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Overseeing and administering the site safety, occupational health, and industrial hygiene functions in support of DHS facility operations and maintenance (O&M) activities
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable federal regulations, safety standards, and performance metrics
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for the contractor’s safety management program and ensure all work is performed in accordance with contract requirements
  • Develop, implement, administer, and continuously improve the site Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and overall safety management program
  • Conduct thorough hazard analyses, identify workplace risks, and develop effective hazard mitigation and control measures
  • Perform regular safety inspections, audits, and assessments of both contractor and subcontractor activities
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare comprehensive reports and recommend corrective actions
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and remedial instruction as necessary to maintain a safety-first culture
  • Maintain all required safety documentation, certifications, training records, and compliance reporting

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of five (5) years of continuous experience supervising or managing safety programs within general industry, construction, or facility O&M environments
  • Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry Safety Training certification/card
  • Demonstrated completion of at least eight (8) hours of formal safety and health-related training annually for the past five (5) years
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations, EM 385-1-1 requirements, and government contract compliance standards
  • Expertise in conducting hazard analyses and developing mitigation strategies
  • Experience implementing and administering Quality Control Programs specifically for facility operations, maintenance, or construction contracts
  • Proven ability to manage contractor and subcontractor compliance with rigorous safety and quality requirements
  • Excellent skills in delivering safety training and acting as the primary liaison for safety programs with federal agencies and stakeholders
  • Ability to supervise and manage comprehensive safety programs within general industry or construction environments.
