Paralegal

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Research and analyze law sources, including statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.
- Prepare various legal documents—such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, and articles of incorporation—for review and use by corporate counsel.
- Investigate case facts and relevant laws to determine causes of action and prepare cases accordingly.
- Perform clerical duties including scheduling appointments, taking dictation, composing routine correspondence, and routing mail.
- Maintain paper and electronic files, prepare affidavits of documents, and ensure the proper indexing and filing of original legal documents.
- Organize and track matter progress files and monitor new or updated laws and regulations.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or one to two years of related experience/training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Paralegal certification is required.
- At least three (3) years of experience as a paralegal in a city, county, state office, public interest entity, law firm, or corporate legal department.
- Experience writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Thorough knowledge of legal terminology, principles, and research techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in relevant computer software.
