About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and maintain high-quality Spanish language arts assessment items and passages throughout their life cycle
- Align content to standards, frameworks, resources, specifications, checklists, and style guides
- Contribute to item specifications, process documentation, test blueprints, and item bank inventory evaluations
- Serve as a Spanish language assessment subject matter expert with internal and external stakeholders
- Facilitate meetings and collaborative efforts with partners
- Help lead training for vendors, item writers, and educators
- Consult with program management, attend relevant meetings, and track project progress
- Contribute to new test designs, item and test prototypes, and innovative assessment ideas
- Apply Spanish literacy, transadaptation, multilingual learner, linguistic accuracy, register, and cultural appropriateness expertise
- Support project launch meetings and lead development-specific project meetings
- Improve processes and procedures and track tasks, schedules, budgets, and project requirements
- Communicate decisions, impacts, progress, risks, and next steps with cross-functional stakeholders
- Support Agile/Scrum practices across assessment and content teams
- Train and mentor staff in areas of expertise
- Develop expertise in development tools, software, and processes and communicate best practices
- Implement project changes and escalate when additional intervention is needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- B.A. or B.S. in Education and/or a relevant field such as Spanish, Linguistics, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Spanish assessment item development
- Knowledge and experience working with curriculum materials and standards
- Content expertise in Spanish Language Arts and English Language Arts
- Expertise in industry standards for assessment quality, especially item and test requirements
- Experience with custom and off-the-shelf large-scale assessment development processes
- Familiarity with research design, data analysis, psychometric concepts, and measurement principles
- Ability to collaborate extensively with peers
- Familiarity with Agile processes
- Ability to develop creative solutions for resource and schedule challenges
- Translation/transadaptation from English to Spanish and Spanish copyediting experience
- Experience in dual language education environments and/or with multilingual Spanish/English students
- Fluency in spoken and written Spanish and English
- Ability to communicate subject-area expertise with internal and external audiences
