Supplier Quality & Development Engineer
HitachiSupplier Quality & Development Engineer ensuring compliance and quality in supplier management processes at Hitachi Energy. Engaging with global suppliers and cross-functional teams to drive quality initiatives.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- You will conduct supplier audits and assessments to evaluate their quality management systems, manufacturing processes, and overall capabilities also develop and implement supplier quality assurance plans, including inspection criteria, testing requirements, and corrective action processes.
- You will collaborate with design engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams to define critical quality requirements for new product development and existing components also drive supplier performance improvement initiatives through root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action (8D) implementation, and ongoing performance monitoring.
- You will manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and disposition of defective materials, working closely with suppliers to resolve quality issues efficiently and lead new supplier qualification processes, including technical evaluations, risk assessments, and initial product approvals (PPAP/APQP).
- You will monitor key supplier quality metrics, analyze trends, and generate reports for management review and provide technical support and guidance to suppliers on quality standards, engineering specifications, and process optimization.
- You will participate in cross-functional teams to identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining or improving quality and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and Hitachi Energy's internal quality policies.
- You will be responsible for ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements
What you’ll need- You hold a bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials Science) or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in supplier quality, quality engineering, or a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and quality tools (e.g., 8D, FMEA, SPC, PPAP, APQP, MSA).
- Demonstrated experience in conducting supplier audits and driving continuous improvement initiatives, proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills with strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to supplier sites as required with experience in the power electronics, electrical equipment, or high-voltage industry is a plus.
- Certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt are highly desirable.
- Fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken).
