About the role

  • Design, implementation, validation, and testing of power system-relevant control strategies
  • Support complete R&D project lifecycle, from design to testing
  • Implement logics on Hitachi Energy automation platforms (controllers and PLC) using platform-specific languages (C, C++, IEC 61131, etc.)
  • Support rollout of the automation solution globally, including room training and training on the job on a real project

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Automation Engineering
  • A minimum of 3 to 6 years of professional experience in digital control applied to the Power System Domain
  • Strong PLC development experience, especially with CodeSys engineering tools
  • Knowledge in IEC 61131-3 standard PLC programming languages: Structured Text, Function Block Diagram (FBD), and Sequential Function Chart (SFC)
  • Hands-on experience with designing and implementing control loops
  • Strong desire to apply simulated and validated control concepts on real platforms
  • Solid understanding of industrial and electrical communication protocols: IEC60870-101/104, Modbus, MQTT, OPC-UA, DNP3.0, CanOpen, IEC61850
  • Proficiency with protocol simulators and packet analyzers, including Wireshark
  • Advanced understanding of network architectures and cybersecurity principles
  • Familiarity with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), renewable energy generation, and microgrid technologies
  • Experience with Hardware in the Loop platforms, such as Typhoon, is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps and experience in an agile development environment is a plus
  • Background in scripting or programming with Python is beneficial
  • Advanced presentation skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Awareness of quality standards, processes, and tools relevant to the field
  • Proactive, flexible, and able to communicate effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities
