About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide Underwriting Teams with current exposure information and insights into portfolio trends
- Deliver exposure roll-ups to the Hiscox Group for internal, investor and regulatory requirements
- Ensure exposure data, methodologies and assumptions are correct and up to date
- Review and communicate results with Underwriting teams
- Improve exposure management approaches and implement solutions to exposure management questions
- Advance existing processes and implement new, controlled ways of working
- Collaborate with Underwriters, Pricing Analysts, the Group Exposure Management team and external service providers
- Analyze data and deliver business insight
- Take ownership, work independently and make data-backed business decisions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a numerical, mathematical, geographical, statistical, risk-related or highly analytical discipline
- Recent graduates or candidates with relevant industry or analytical experience encouraged to apply
- Experience of, or demonstrable interest in, coding, data analysis and quantitative problem-solving
- Knowledge of at least one of Excel, SQL, Python, R, VBA or similar analytical tools
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Fluent written and spoken business English
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Ability to interpret data, identify trends and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to build effective working relationships across teams
- Ability to translate analysis into meaningful business insights
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in technology, coding, automation and data-driven problem-solving
- Nice-to-haves: Python, SQL, R or other analytical programming languages; insurance, risk management, catastrophe modelling or exposure management; large or complex datasets; Tableau Desktop; Dataiku
