About the role

  • Perform complex engineering assignments related to the research, design, and development of plastics processing machinery.
  • Contribute to the overall machine concept and layout.
  • Engineer parts and subassemblies with the guidance of a senior engineer.
  • Develop cost-effective designs that meet specification criteria and performance requirements.
  • Assist in debugging designs and machinery.
  • Responsible for the preparation of product or system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
  • Check designs and details for technical accuracy and recommends revisions or concept expansion for problem resolutions.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Develop test plans and experimental programs.
  • Liaise with customers or vendors as required exchanging information on product or system capability.
  • Has an understanding of estimating time on tasks, setting priorities, planning short term and long-term goals, project monitoring, and time management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 3 years relevant experience in capital equipment or heavy machinery design
  • Plastics industry a plus
  • Has sufficient familiarity with Reliability and Maintainability principles, tools, and techniques to appropriately design into new or modified products
  • Knowledge and understanding of the use of computer assisted design equipment. Creo, Windchill, and Mathcad are a plus.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and test reports.
  • Ability to communicate, in writing, facts and information clearly, accurately and with significance.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management in both verbal and written form
  • Mathematical knowledge and application to mechanical, hydraulic, electromechanical, and electrical equipment design.
  • Must be capable of performing strength of materials, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, power transmission, and simple hydraulic computations
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
