About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead database modernization and migration initiatives from SQL Server to PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
Design, develop, and optimize database objects, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, and SSIS/SSRS components.
Perform schema conversion and code remediation using AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT).
Plan and execute database migrations using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), including full-load and Change Data Capture (CDC) migration strategies.
Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and architectural improvements.
Review technical deliverables and provide guidance to database migration team members.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of database modernization initiatives.
Support database validation, testing, troubleshooting, and post-migration optimization.

Requirements

What you’ll need

8+ years of experience in database engineering, database migration, or database architecture.
Expert-level experience with: Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Views, and SSIS/SSRS
PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL development and performance tuning
SQL Server to PostgreSQL migration projects
Strong hands-on experience with: AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT)
AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)
Schema conversion and code-object remediation
Full-load and Change Data Capture (CDC) migration strategies
Database performance tuning, indexing, and optimization
Large-scale database modernization initiatives
Experience leading database migration teams and reviewing technical deliverables.
