About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, test, and implement secure operating systems, networks, and database products
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for application design
  • Address security architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic, and network access
  • Use encryption technology, penetration and vulnerability analysis, and information technology security research
  • Prepare security reports to regulatory agencies as needed
  • Provide leadership to teams executing RMF activities, SSPs, Continuous Monitoring Plans, PIT Risk Acceptance Packages, SARs, and network ATO activities
  • Oversee collaboration with PREPY teams and integrate cybersecurity requirements into system and component development
  • Liaise with NNS Engineering, IT, and Security teams to align methodologies
  • Manage daily team operations, set expectations, and hold employees accountable to performance goals
  • Support land-based lab environments, developmental networks, and shipboard systems in NNPP platforms

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design, or Master's degree and 4 years of relevant experience
  • Equivalent pathways include NNS Apprentice School graduation, Navy Nuclear Power School graduation, associate degree or formal two-year program plus relevant experience, military paygrade E-5 or above experience, or high school/GED plus specified combined experience
  • A relevant professional certification can substitute for a Bachelor's degree
  • Professional experience or knowledge of NNPP systems, designs, operations, and cultural values
  • Knowledge of DoD and Navy security frameworks, including DCSA DAAG, DoD 5220.22-M (NISPOM), DoD 8510.01 (RMF), OPNAVINST N9210.3 (UNNPI), and CMMC
  • Knowledge of NIST Technical Publications, including 800-37, 800-53, and 800-53a
  • Experience implementing security controls on computer-based and networked systems
  • Ability to travel 10%-25% of the time
  • No security clearance required to start
