About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks
- Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, including laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes
- Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings, flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics
- Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas
- Conduct preliminary analyses of data concerning trajectory adequacy and model dimensional consistency
- Make quantitative judgments concerning technical data
- Use personal computers for analyses and development of documentation and reports
- Conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis
- Lead, maintain, complete, and manage mechanical combat system test procedures and testing
- Support testing of torpedo tubes, payload tubes, countermeasure launchers, and weapons shipping and handling
- Communicate regularly with Virginia Class Submarine construction trades and management, engineering departments, Supervisor of Shipbuilding, government support groups, and the US Navy via email, phone, and in-person meetings
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience
- Alternatively, NNS Apprentice School graduate
- Alternatively, Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
- Alternatively, High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
- Alternatively, High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Nice to have: Previous Navy or construction knowledge of submarine mechanical combat systems, including torpedo tubes, payload tubes, countermeasure launchers, and weapons shipping and handling
