About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks
  • Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, including laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes
  • Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings, flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics
  • Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas
  • Conduct preliminary analyses of data and make quantitative judgments concerning technical data
  • Use personal computers to perform analyses and develop documentation and reports
  • Conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis
  • Assist NDT examiners in oversight of the NDT program
  • Perform deckplate evaluation of inspections
  • Research specifications and drawings
  • Review inspection records and OQE
  • Learn and develop working knowledge of visual, magnetic particle, and penetrant dye NDT inspection methods and NDT processes within one year

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
  • Equivalent pathways include NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Equivalent pathway includes Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, or Military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, or Military experience
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Preferred: experience with non-destructive test techniques and processes
  • Preferred: knowledge of ship construction or deckplate experience
  • Preferred: familiarity with welding operations or ship structure
  • Trade experience or Apprentice School graduate highly desirable
  • Strong communication skills preferred
