About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks
Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, including laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes
Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings, flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics
Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas
Conduct preliminary analyses of data and make quantitative judgments concerning technical data
Use personal computers to perform analyses and develop documentation and reports
Conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis
Assist NDT examiners in oversight of the NDT program
Perform deckplate evaluation of inspections
Research specifications and drawings
Review inspection records and OQE
Learn and develop working knowledge of visual, magnetic particle, and penetrant dye NDT inspection methods and NDT processes within one year

Requirements

What you’ll need

Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
Equivalent pathways include NNS Apprentice School graduate
Equivalent pathway includes Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, or Military experience
High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, or Military experience
U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred: experience with non-destructive test techniques and processes
Preferred: knowledge of ship construction or deckplate experience
Preferred: familiarity with welding operations or ship structure
Trade experience or Apprentice School graduate highly desirable
Strong communication skills preferred
