About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Sort, label, and log specimens
  • Perform testing procedures in accordance with strict procedures
  • Perform centrifugation, blood separations, and culture-material processing
  • Perform venipuncture and skin puncture to collect patient specimens
  • Separate and centrifuge specimens, add reagents, stain slides, perform tissue cultures, and conduct DNA probe assays
  • Transcribe and record test results
  • Operate sterilizing equipment to decontaminate glassware
  • Provide high-quality laboratory support within the Occupational Health Clinic
  • Prioritize tasks and manage a high-volume workload while maintaining accuracy and customer service
  • Cross-train in other clinical functions as needed to support clinic operations
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
  • NNS Apprentice School graduate, Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate, or qualifying high school/GED plus related or non-related experience may substitute for the Associate's Degree
  • Strong phlebotomy and venipuncture skills
  • Experience collecting a high volume of specimens
  • Experience with specimen processing, labeling, and chain-of-custody procedures preferred
  • PFT certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred
  • Willingness to cross-train in other clinical support functions
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to adapt to changing clinic needs
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Must comply with safety and quality standards
