About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Sort, label, and log specimens
Perform testing procedures in accordance with strict procedures
Perform centrifugation, blood separations, and culture-material processing
Perform venipuncture and skin puncture to collect patient specimens
Separate and centrifuge specimens, add reagents, stain slides, perform tissue cultures, and conduct DNA probe assays
Transcribe and record test results
Operate sterilizing equipment to decontaminate glassware
Provide high-quality laboratory support within the Occupational Health Clinic
Prioritize tasks and manage a high-volume workload while maintaining accuracy and customer service
Cross-train in other clinical functions as needed to support clinic operations
Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards

Requirements

What you’ll need

Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
NNS Apprentice School graduate, Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate, or qualifying high school/GED plus related or non-related experience may substitute for the Associate's Degree
Strong phlebotomy and venipuncture skills
Experience collecting a high volume of specimens
Experience with specimen processing, labeling, and chain-of-custody procedures preferred
PFT certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred
Willingness to cross-train in other clinical support functions
Strong organizational, multitasking, communication, and customer service skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to adapt to changing clinic needs
U.S. citizenship required
Must comply with safety and quality standards
