About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems
- Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines
- Engage with shipyards, customers and other stakeholders to collect feedback for design incorporation
- Have flexibility with work assignments and may perform duties outside of traditional discipline work scope
- Work with multi-discipline teams on incorporation of SSNA design principles
- Solve complex spatial integration issues while meeting system and overall ship requirements
- Be able to effectively communicate with both internal leadership and external customer(s)
- Be prepared to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience
- Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience
- Ph.D. and 0 years of experience
- Specific knowledge of submarine propulsion plant design
- Direct technical expertise in propulsion plant fluid system design or component design including heat exchangers, valves, pumps, generators, and steam turbines
- Proficient in technical writing
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
