MGR Engineering 2 – Machinery
HIIEngineering Manager 2 leading a team for Propulsion Plant machinery and fleet support for US aircraft carriers. Overseeing the design and operations of critical machinery systems in the Nimitz and Ford Class fleets.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- support Propulsion Plant machinery for the United States aircraft carrier fleet (both Nimitz Class and Ford Class)
- lead a team of 8 - 12 engineers
- support turbines, diesel engines, generators, voltage regulators, motor controllers, governors, motors, pumps, reduction gears for main propulsion, and heat exchangers
- own the design of Ford Class equipment while supporting the build, test, and installation on new aircraft carriers
- support the Nimitz and Ford Class delivered fleet assets, from keeping the machinery operating with the Navy to supporting logistics, design improvements, and maintenance
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design
- Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience
- Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Experience working with or working for the US Navy is beneficial, especially within the Nuclear Navy.
- Experience with rotating machinery, power generation, controls, or heat exchangers is beneficial.
- Prior professional leadership experience is preferred.
