About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Identifies hazardous workplace conditions and takes preliminary samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances
  • Removes hazards and/or protects employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment
  • Takes effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions of any labor agreement
  • Ensures that all required records are prepared and maintained
  • Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections and in any procedures that may follow a citation
  • Investigates, prepares, and forwards as required reports on injuries and fatalities
  • Conducts safe work procedures training courses

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of relevant exempt experience
  • Master’s Degree and 0 year of relevant professional experience
  • One of the following may be used as an equivalent to Bachelor's Degree: NNS Apprentice School graduate
  • Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
  • Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
  • Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
  • High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
  • High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
