Welding Engineering Technologist
HIIWelding Engineering Technologist at Ingalls Shipbuilding developing, analyzing, and implementing welding techniques for naval shipbuilding. Ensuring compliance, improving productivity and assisting engineers with construction issues.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develops, analyzes, researches, and designs welding techniques, procedures, and applications.
- Uses welding skill and knowledge to develop and implement processes and techniques to ensure craft compliance with requirements and improve productivity.
- Performs procedure qualification with all shipyard welding processes using a wide variety of materials and thicknesses which pass all testing requirements.
- Assists welding engineers in solving waterfront construction issues.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Seven years, minimum, experience in using multiple welding processes employed by Ingalls Shipbuilding.
- Knowledge of the variety of welding systems and welding materials common to Ingalls and other shipbuilders.
- Must be a currently active Ingalls Shipbuilding Employee and have a Superior Attendance and Disciplinary Record.
- Candidate cannot have more than 3 unexcused absences in the last 180 day period.
- Candidate cannot have any safety DANS that result in a disciplinary layoff in last 180 day period.
- Candidate cannot have more than 2 total DANS in the last 180 day period (excluding lost tool).
