About the role
- Lead various efforts in the arena of Ship Alteration development
- Develop structural foundation design and maintenance of nuclear cognizant structure
- Provide oversight and direction for less experienced engineers
- Support CVN68 Class operational readiness through adjudication of LARs and other special studies
- Analyze and develop structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 9 years of relevant exempt experience; or
- Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; or
- Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
- Comprehensive knowledge regarding the development of both nuclear and non-nuclear structural ship alteration products
- Direct experience in CVN68 Class ships preferred
- Experience in structural foundation drawings and fabrication and welding of ship's structure
- Familiarity with non-destructive test requirements for structural welds
- Extensive experience working with nuclear lifting and handling requirements
- Knowledge of protective coatings, corrosion prevention mechanisms, and nuclear shielding preferred
