About the role

  • Lead various efforts in the arena of Ship Alteration development
  • Develop structural foundation design and maintenance of nuclear cognizant structure
  • Provide oversight and direction for less experienced engineers
  • Support CVN68 Class operational readiness through adjudication of LARs and other special studies
  • Analyze and develop structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 9 years of relevant exempt experience; or
  • Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; or
  • Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge regarding the development of both nuclear and non-nuclear structural ship alteration products
  • Direct experience in CVN68 Class ships preferred
  • Experience in structural foundation drawings and fabrication and welding of ship's structure
  • Familiarity with non-destructive test requirements for structural welds
  • Extensive experience working with nuclear lifting and handling requirements
  • Knowledge of protective coatings, corrosion prevention mechanisms, and nuclear shielding preferred
