About the role

  • Develop and maintain media and influencer relations; proactively engage media and develop storylines
  • Secure coverage for accounts according to team goals
  • Facilitate media briefings across client accounts and provide feedback to clients
  • Own portions of client PR calls and provide counsel on media opportunities and coverage
  • Present quarterly/yearly account progress as needed
  • Own key elements of the PR program (analysts, influencers, speaking, content, etc.)
  • Generate and edit press releases, award submissions, fact sheets, backgrounders, biographies, tour reports, briefing books, contributed articles, speaking abstracts, pitches, Q&As, and other PR collateral
  • Produce professional, articulate and timely client communication
  • Mentor junior staff, assist in development of goals, deliver annual reviews and quarterly check-ins
  • Participate in new business processes, research and present at pitches
  • Identify and attend networking events; encourage team attendance
  • Maintain respectful, enthusiastic, and professional attitude; support teams and manage up and down
  • Use Highwire social channels and write for the Highwire blog
  • Proactively set quarterly goals, track growth, prioritize responsibilities, and consistently meet deadlines

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of PR experience (agency or startup experience preferred)
  • Solid relationships with key media and influencer targets
  • Strong knowledge of all media and influencers relevant to clients’ business
  • Proactive media engagement and storyline development skills
  • Exceptional writing skills; ability to generate press releases and other content with minimal edits
  • Ability to generate and edit award submissions, press releases, fact sheets, backgrounders, biographies, tour reports, briefing books, contributed articles, speaking opportunity abstracts, pitches, Q&As, company memorandum and general team correspondence
  • Professional, articulate and timely client communication
  • Client service experience: facilitate media briefings, own portions of client PR calls, provide counsel on media opportunities
  • Experience owning key elements of PR programs (analysts, influencers, speaking, content)
  • Mentoring or leadership experience to support junior staff development
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, hit deadlines, and drive projects forward independently
  • Social media savvy
