About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the health of direct and gateway network connections across issuing and acquiring, including single and dual message traffic
  • Lead and troubleshoot connection migrations and drive setup timelines, message processing, and reporting to completion
  • Provision, configure, and manage issuing and acquiring BINs and ICAs across payment networks
  • Own sponsorship registration and associated identifiers, resolving BIN blocks and setup delays with networks and banks
  • Run certification for new connections and program types, including POS, card-present, card-not-present, and debit-rail test cases
  • Ensure network releases and compliance with network operating rules across issuing and acquiring
  • Monitor and resolve noncompliance reported by networks or bank partners through development and/or variance
  • Manage settlement schedules and value dates, apply network settlement reporting and advisories, and ensure accurate settlement and reconciliation
  • Investigate processing exceptions, reversals, authorization holds, and disputes; determine root causes and drive fixes
  • Understand network fees and interchange and support BIN and program pricing strategy
  • Serve as a senior contact for payment networks and sponsor bank partners and mediate relationships when needed
  • Partner with sponsor banks, product and engineering, finance, and payment networks

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years in payments or card processing
  • At least 5 to 7 years directly owning network operations, connectivity, certification, and settlement at a processor
  • Experience working at a payment processor and understanding connectivity, certification, settlement, and reconciliation from the operator’s seat
  • Acquiring experience, including merchant acquiring and PayFac operations
  • Knowledge of Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, PULSE, Accel, STAR, NYCE, PLUS, MoneyPass, and Allpoint at the message, BIN, settlement, and certification level
  • Existing working relationships with contacts inside payment networks
  • Meticulous experience with BIN and ICA setups, certification scripts, settlement files, and reconciliation
  • Ability to independently own ambiguous, high-stakes problems through resolution
  • Clear communication with technical and business audiences
  • Ability to translate between engineering, finance, sponsor banks, and payment networks
