About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Solicit and become familiar with accounts in the assigned market segment
- Prospect and close assigned accounts and territories to positively impact hotel revenues
- Support Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach and The Royal Lahaina Resort in Maui
- Apply Highgate sales policies and selling techniques to maximize occupancy and Average Daily Rate (ADR)
- Conduct professional hotel site inspections with clients
- Develop working knowledge of hotel operations, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services, and Reservations
- Develop and execute plans for outside sales calls, industry tradeshows, and customer events
- Research, solicit, and generate new business leads through database research and proactive sales efforts
- Attend Highgate Hotel Business Review meetings as needed
- Operate within the established sales expense budget
- Maintain an active sales solicitation program and monitor production of top accounts
- Contact existing accounts according to the Account Coverage Program
- Invite and entertain clients through hotel visits, lunches, tours, and site inspections
- Assist with special promotions, parties, and sales blitzes
- Prepare required reports, including month-end account production tracking
- Use the computerized sales management system to generate reports, enter business, block space, and build accounts
- Meet and greet onsite contacts
- Develop networking opportunities through community and professional associations
- Review meeting planner evaluations with the Director of Sales and follow up on issues
- Manage and negotiate sales transactions through successful closings
- Attend required hotel meetings and trainings
- Participate in M.O.D. and office coverage as scheduled
- Perform other duties requested by management
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least 3 years of progressive hotel group sales experience
- Role will be remote based in AZ or TX; requires travel
- Must have a driver’s license in the applicable state
- Must be proficient in Windows, company-approved spreadsheets, and word processing
- Long hours sometimes required
- Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently or constantly
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
- Must effectively handle, anticipate, prevent, identify, and solve problems
- Must understand and evaluate complex information and data from various sources
- Must maintain confidentiality of information
- Must maintain regular attendance, personal appearance, and grooming standards
- Must comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations
