About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Guide patients/residents, families, and facility staff on medical nutrition therapy
- Build relationships with physicians and nurses to support patient satisfaction and quality care
- Complete nutritional assessments for all residents and create care plans with nutritional goals
- Educate patients/residents, families, nursing, dietary service, and community staff on special diets and dining needs
- Document nutritional assessments, goals, and interventions in medical records
- Review and approve daily menus, snacks, and supplement programs
- Communicate with physicians and clinical staff about patients’/residents’ nutritional status
- Attend resident rounds and nutrition meetings
- Maintain clinical nutrition policies to support regulatory compliance
- Work across diverse settings, including inpatient acute care and bariatrics
Requirements
What you’ll need- Registered Dietitian with the Commission of Dietetic Registration
- Licensed dietitian as required per state regulations
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or related field
- Knowledge of regulatory standards
- Computer experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and various software
- Ability to interact with individuals of all backgrounds
- Effective written, spoken, and non-verbal communication
- Service-oriented mentality with a focus on exceeding expectations
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor
- Self-motivated with the ability to effectively prioritize projects and needs
- Willingness to provide support where needed to achieve outcomes
- Demonstrate integrity, respect, and discretion in all business dealings
- Attention to detail and ability to effectively manage tasks in a fast-paced environment
- May need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption, depending on facility requirements
