About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead multiple project teams of software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners through design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration
Manage and expand relationships with internal and outsourced development partners
Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development guidelines and standards
Provide feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk
Provide domain-specific expertise and software systems leadership to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities
Drive innovation and integration of new technologies into software systems design projects
Provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
Typically 6–10 years of experience
Experience designing and developing backend or distributed software systems
Fluent in English and Italian
Strong knowledge of software development languages for backend
Solid experience with Linux operating systems and networking fundamentals
Good understanding of IP networking, including major Layer 2/Layer 3 protocols
Experience with software development best practices, Git, and issue-tracking platforms
Experience with software testing, debugging, and troubleshooting methodologies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred: experience with 4G/LTE and 5G Core Networks
Preferred: familiarity with Linux kernel networking concepts and the network stack
Preferred: experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native environments
Preferred: exposure to telecommunications protocols and network function architectures
Preferred: knowledge of advanced IP routing, including BGP and OSPF
Preferred: understanding of microservices and distributed systems design principles
