About the role
- The Category Management function oversees the HPC & AI product portfolio, including accelerated computing platforms, across the full lifecycle—covering offering, positioning, and pricing.
- It supports direct and indirect sales teams with product guidance to enable timely, effective deal execution for standardized opportunities.
- The Category Manager plans business objectives for the assigned portfolio and adjusts product decisions to achieve them, acting as a lead expert in competitive knowledge across configuration, pricing, workload positioning, and customer requirements.
- The role partners with sales to accelerate deals through clear configuration and pricing direction and works with Marketing to define demand generation and differentiation priorities.
- This is a sales-compensated role with overlay quota responsibility.
- Applies advanced knowledge in HPC, AI infrastructure, and accelerated systems to solve complex business issues as a recognized subject matter expert.
- Contributes to new ideas and methods, focusing on improving deal efficiency, configuration standardization, and pricing consistency.
- Handles complex problems requiring evaluation of multiple factors such as performance, cost, supply constraints, and competitive dynamics.
- Provides expertise to cross-functional teams and supports broader HPC & AI go-to-market initiatives.
- Represents the organization in AI and HPC discussions with customers and partners, guiding solution scoping and commercial alignment.
- Exercises independent judgment to achieve objectives and may mentor junior employees.
Requirements
- University or Bachelors degree in Information Technology, or Business Administration, or Marketing or related field.
- Advanced degree or MBA preferred.
- Typically 8-12 years of professional experience with a combination of Marketing, Sales, Business Planning experienced preferred.
- Consumer and/or Commercial Partner management expertise.
- End User Acct management as an alternative.
- Strong knowledge of the IT industry, with familiarity in HPC, AI infrastructure, or data center systems.
- Business planning skills, multidimensional.
- Financial planning and modelling skills, comfortable to manage high complexity business planning and reporting.
- Strong communication skills at senior management internally and externally.
- Knowledge of promotional marketing processes and practices.
- Negotiation skills and ability to frame the product value proposition to customers/partners.
- Leadership skills and cross functional expertise (sales, supply chain, marketing).
