About the role
- Design and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies for avionics hardware and assemblies, prioritizing availability, cost efficiency, quality, compliance, and supply chain reliability
- Assume full ownership of end-to-end supply functions: supplier selection, negotiation, contract execution, order placement, quality and timely delivery, issue/dispute management, and cost oversight
- Serve as a subject matter expert in avionics sourcing (RF, harnessing, antennas, GNC, mission systems), advising on supplier capabilities, manufacturability, and compliance requirements
- Lead all aspects of RFI/RFQ/RFP activities to identify and assess supplier capabilities and ensure competitive, high-quality bids
- Manage relationships with external contract manufacturers and suppliers to ensure ongoing supply continuity and implement risk mitigation
- Facilitate transitions from new product introduction to mass production and support supplier development
- Collaborate extensively with engineering, mission systems, quality, and supply chain to support product innovation and operational excellence
- Lead cross-functional Commodity Council to standardize avionics sourcing strategies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in category management, strategic sourcing, or supplier development for avionics, mission systems, or complex defense hardware
- Strong knowledge of RF systems, cable & wire harnessing, antennas, GNC, and mission systems hardware
- Previous experience supporting U.S. government contracts and compliance requirements (DFARS, ITAR/EAR, CMMC 2.0)
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate, draft, and administer complex contracts and subcontracts
- Proven capability to lead and collaborate effectively across functional areas within fast-paced settings
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or aerospace engineering (preferred)
- Previous experience in defense, aerospace, automotive, start-up, or high-tech manufacturing sectors (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) principles and proficiency in data-driven sourcing (preferred)
- Familiarity with avionics testing, qualification, and mission systems integration (preferred)
- Proficiency in interpreting and enforcing contractual terms and conditions (preferred)
- Familiarity with procurement/ERP systems, PLM, and CAD (preferred)
- Availability for full-time onsite work (preferred)
- Must be a U.S. person or eligible for deemed export licensing (per U.S. export control compliance)
