About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for managing, planning and coordinating the accounting and financial reporting functions of the company
  • Overseeing the preparation and timely filing of quarterly (10-Q) and annual (10-K) reports with the SEC
  • Maintains appropriate internal controls and ensures controls are designed to be in compliance with SOX
  • Establishes, approves, and oversees accounting policies, procedures, and practices
  • Manages the daily accounting processes including investment security accounting, accounts payable, fixed assets, income taxes, prepaid expenses, and accrued expenses
  • Analyzes transactions to determine the appropriate accounting treatment
  • Provides accounting guidance, leadership and direction to company’s operating units
  • Oversees the preparation of FDIC, Federal Reserve, Security and Exchange Commission quarterly and annual reports and schedules
  • Works closely with internal and external auditors to coordinate audits
  • Assists with the development of complex financial projections involving acquisitions, mergers and business combinations
  • Ensures Bank activities are performed in compliance with the Bank’s Policies and Standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required
  • 5+ years recent, progressively responsible accounting/finance experience in a leadership role within a major corporation or division
  • background in the financial services industry required
  • Demonstrated success working in a highly regulated public company environment required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education, certifications and/or relevant experience in all aspects of accounting/finance in a leadership role may be considered
  • Strong listening, verbal, written, and telephone etiquette business communication skills
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills are required to manage, motivate, and develop teams
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage income and expense budget(s)
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills are required
  • Advanced knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Advanced use and understanding of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
