About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Responsible for managing, planning and coordinating the accounting and financial reporting functions of the company
Overseeing the preparation and timely filing of quarterly (10-Q) and annual (10-K) reports with the SEC
Maintains appropriate internal controls and ensures controls are designed to be in compliance with SOX
Establishes, approves, and oversees accounting policies, procedures, and practices
Manages the daily accounting processes including investment security accounting, accounts payable, fixed assets, income taxes, prepaid expenses, and accrued expenses
Analyzes transactions to determine the appropriate accounting treatment
Provides accounting guidance, leadership and direction to company’s operating units
Oversees the preparation of FDIC, Federal Reserve, Security and Exchange Commission quarterly and annual reports and schedules
Works closely with internal and external auditors to coordinate audits
Assists with the development of complex financial projections involving acquisitions, mergers and business combinations
Ensures Bank activities are performed in compliance with the Bank’s Policies and Standards

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required
5+ years recent, progressively responsible accounting/finance experience in a leadership role within a major corporation or division
background in the financial services industry required
Demonstrated success working in a highly regulated public company environment required
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred
Equivalent combination of education, certifications and/or relevant experience in all aspects of accounting/finance in a leadership role may be considered
Strong listening, verbal, written, and telephone etiquette business communication skills
Strong leadership and managerial skills are required to manage, motivate, and develop teams
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage income and expense budget(s)
Advanced quantitative and analytical skills are required
Advanced knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Advanced use and understanding of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
