About the role
- Learn the basics of day-to-day operations for a website with hundreds of thousands of visits per day
- Contribute to the daily news cycle, getting valuable real-world clips
- Assist with various curation and content-related tasks in all sections of the site
- Responsibilities tailored to the candidates’ skillsets
- Could include story research, article packaging, social media responsibilities, getting photos in the field, attending press conferences
Requirements
- Must be a current student in UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism
- Interns will work 30 hours a week for 8.5 weeks, June-August 2026.
- Passion for journalism and the internet, including keeping a pulse on what’s trending
- Knowledge of the Bay Area
- Ability to quickly grasp new concepts
- Strong attention to detail
- Familiarity with online publications
- Experience at a school newspaper/magazine or similar publication
- Enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn
- Familiarity with social media, particularly Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit
