About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build patient-facing features end-to-end across our Next.js frontend and server-side BFF layer - onboarding and eligibility journeys, subscription checkout, condition management, medication reordering and patient records
Own integrations with the services behind the app: Medusa commerce, Stripe subscription billing, HealthHero's clinical platform APIs, our questionnaire/triage engine, pharmacy services and Sanity CMS
Lead the technical design of new services and markets - the platform is multi-tenant and white-label (UK, Ireland, Germany and retail partners), with feature-flagged rollouts and full internationalisation
Craft accessible, responsive UI in our shared component library (Radix primitives + Tailwind), keeping quality and consistency high across every patient touchpoint
Champion engineering quality - unit and component tests with Vitest, end-to-end and accessibility tests with Playwright, thoughtful code review and green pipelines in GitLab CI
Improve reliability, performance and conversion - using Datadog RUM, OpenTelemetry tracing and analytics to find and fix what matters most to patients and the business
Mentor other engineers and raise the bar through pairing, review and knowledge sharing
Collaborate closely with product, design and clinical colleagues to turn regulated healthcare requirements into simple, humane user experiences

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years building production web applications, with deep expertise in React and TypeScript and substantial Next.js experience (App Router, server components and server actions ideally).
Genuinely fullstack: backend experience with .NET (C#) as well as Node/TypeScript - designing and consuming REST APIs, building backend-for-frontend layers, and working with authentication flows (OAuth/OIDC) and session management.
Experience with payments and subscriptions - Stripe or a comparable provider - including checkout, billing lifecycle and failure handling.
A strong testing habit: unit/component testing (Vitest or Jest + Testing Library) and end-to-end testing (Playwright or Cypress).
Modern CSS and component-driven UI development (Tailwind, Radix/shadcn or similar), with a real commitment to accessibility.
Fluency with CI/CD pipelines and collaborative Git workflows (we use GitLab), and monorepo tooling (pnpm workspaces, Turborepo).
