About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Respond to incoming customer phone calls and written inquiries from clients, providers, and members
  • Research and troubleshoot eligibility, benefits, and claim-status inquiries
  • Provide accurate eligibility, benefit, and claim-status information by phone and in writing
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and advocate for members, providers, brokers, and clients
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to report and resolve inquiries and prevent recurrence

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1-3+ years of experience providing superior service in a call center environment or provider's office, preferably in the healthcare industry
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of medical, vision, and dental terminology preferred
  • Knowledge of customer service ethics, principles, and procedures
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and analytical abilities
  • Extensive keyboarding skills, including the ability to talk and document simultaneously
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Basic proficiency using Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Instant Messaging, and Outlook
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining the flow of a conversation and typing 40+ WPM
  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills a plus
  • Availability to work any assigned shift beginning as early as 6:45 a.m. and ending as late as 6:15 p.m.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background screen
  • Ability to access and handle protected health information according to HMA policies and procedures
