About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Coordinate outreach and technical assistance activities supporting public health workforce awareness in Western New York
Support K-12 engagement, apprenticeships, fellowships, externships, and internships with local health departments, academic institutions, and regional, state, local, and community partners
Establish and maintain relationships with local health departments, K-12 programs, higher education institutions, and workforce partners across 17 Western New York counties
Design and establish internship, fellowship, and externship opportunities with local health departments and community-based partners
Provide ongoing implementation support to local health departments
Coordinate technical assistance and training for partners and participants
Coordinate development and maintenance of memoranda of understanding with public health higher education institutions
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of participants and placements
Communicate regularly with and support host organizations, supervisors, and participants
Identify gaps and areas for continuous quality improvement
Create and oversee professional development programming for participants
Promote public health workforce awareness programs at career fairs and community events
Complete other related duties as appropriate

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of program coordination experience; OR Associate’s degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience
At least one year of experience must include supervision of staff and/or program management
A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of general experience
Experience with public health program planning, design, implementation, and evaluation preferred
Professional experience engaging with academic institutions, including K-12 programs and higher education institutions, preferred
Experience collaborating with local health departments on public health programming preferred
Recruitment experience in health care, public health, nursing, and/or clinical positions preferred
Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. required
Visa sponsorship is not available
Travel up to 25% of the time required
Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location
Must reside in or be willing to relocate to New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts before hire
