About the role

  • The incumbent will endeavor to enhance the capacity within the region to recruit and retain Indigenous employees in the development of a representative workforce
  • Focused on the development of strategies and programs that positively influence Indigenous employee retention and advancement in healthcare
  • Be a resource to facilitate increased Indigenous participation in the WRHA workforce through a variant of activities, services, Regional projects and organizational change initiatives
  • The Director works in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement strategies to enhance Indigenous participation in the health care workforce throughout the region
  • Provide coordination and support to the WRHA recruitment and retention efforts, including support to appropriate recruitment, retention and workforce planning committees
  • Responsible for coordinating recruitment efforts and will be responsible for developing, updating and distributing materials and tools in support of the recruitment strategies.

Requirements

  • 5 years of progressively senior management and leadership experience, preferably in the public sector
  • 5 years of experience in human resource management, including recruitment, retention and training
  • Experience in Indigenous HR management, recruitment and retention required
  • Experience in Indigenous Workforce Development with a focus on program development, implementation and evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with community based traditional Indigenous cultural programs or initiatives with previous experience in managing diversity
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, enabling health system leaders and teams with applying an Indigenous lens to health operations and exploring ways to provide culturally safe care and to offer traditional Indigenous healing practices as part of health services delivery
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying key performance indicators and conducting comprehensive benefits analysis with respect to Indigenous health
  • Experience in project management and coaching
  • Community development expertise including public engagement & consultation experience
  • Experience building effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, particularly with Indigenous governments, organizations and agencies
  • A degree or post-secondary education in human resources, business administration, or another relevant field required
  • A relevant combination of education, experience and competencies will be considered
  • Valid driver's license.
