About the role
- Lead all aspects of state income tax compliance, reporting, research and planning
- Manage state filing requirements across multiple jurisdictions
- Identify tax savings and planning opportunities
- Monitor nexus exposure and ensure accuracy and timeliness of state filings
- Work within a large health insurance organization (Health Care Service Corporation) to support tax functions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Minimum 8 years related work experience
- 5+ years of state corporate income tax experience
- In-depth knowledge of state income/franchise tax laws, apportionment methodologies, and nexus/unitary rules
- Experience with tax provision and compliance software (e.g., Corptax, OneSource)
- Strong research, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Insurance or financial services industry experience preferred
- CPA (preferred)
