About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and audit activities
Own the integrity of the Company's financial statements and accounting processes
Partner with Finance, Operations, Treasury, and external advisors to establish scalable accounting processes and improve financial visibility
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process
Prepare monthly financial reporting packages, including balance sheets, income statements, business-vertical P&Ls, budget variance reports, cash flow forecasts, breakeven analyses, and backlog
Oversee reconciliations, journal entries, accounting estimates, inventory accounting, cost accounting, AP, AR, payroll, tax compliance, and Treasury support
Coordinate federal, state, and local tax filings and cannabis-specific regulatory reporting
Design, implement, and monitor internal controls, approval workflows, policies, procedures, and process improvements
Lead accounting systems and financial controls implementation and optimize reporting automation and data accuracy
Serve as primary accounting contact for external auditors and coordinate financial statement, workers' compensation, sales tax, lender, and regulatory audits
Support lender reporting and maintain relationships with banks, auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies
Build, develop, and manage the accounting team; establish goals, mentor staff, and assist with recruiting and onboarding

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
CPA required
7+ years of progressive accounting experience
Public accounting experience preferred
Manufacturing, consumer products, retail, or cannabis industry experience preferred
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
Experience managing month-end close and audit processes
Experience with inventory and cost accounting
Advanced Excel skills
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Demonstrated experience leading and developing accounting teams
