About the role

  • Use underwriting information and internal resources to support underwriting decisions.
  • Assist in file and policy preparation.
  • Assist in audit preparation.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of Mission’s underwriting guidelines.
  • Prepare and process policies and endorsements for issuance in accordance with binders and Underwriters instructions.
  • Code premium in accordance with division guidelines.
  • Assist in the review of new and renewal submissions.
  • Request and review incoming Broker of Record letters.
  • Request documentation from the broker for rating, quoting, binding, and policy issuance.
  • Review policy information for accurate processing.
  • Assist in the review of guidelines and SOPs.
  • Work with management to mentor Junior underwriting assistants.

Requirements

  • Experience in the commercial insurance industry and regulatory environment.
  • 5-10 years minimum directly supporting commercial lines underwriters.
  • Bachelor's degree; OR 5+ years of experience in insurance underwriting.
  • Working knowledge of PDF, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the year.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Project management software – like Monday.com
  • Familiarity with Policy Administration software – Origami, Federado
