About the role
- Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join the Engineering team, located in our New York office with three days in office required, fully remote is NOT an option. Visa sponsorship is also NOT available.
- Job Overview: Haymarket Media is seeking a skilled and motivated DevOps Developer 5 - 7 years experience to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-performance, scalable WordPress-based web applications utilizing modern PHP8.
- You will work closely with other team members and stakeholders to deliver exceptional user experiences and innovative solutions.
- Responsibilities: Develop new developer-facing features; Optimise application for maximum performance and scalability; Ensure on-time delivery of high-quality, testable code; Maintain organization infrastructure diagrams and documentation; Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders; Accountable for ensuring infrastructure updates and patches are completed in a timely manner; Responsible for ensuring that quarter audits are completed
Requirements
- Demonstrable proficiency in WordPress APIs and MultiSite management with a strong emphasis on WP CLI
- Proficient understanding of Terraform and Cloudformation
- Proficiency with clean PHP8 object oriented coding standards
- Demonstrable proficiency with config management such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
- Demonstrable knowledge of Google Cloud Platform, AWS, and serverless based architectures
- Experience working with containers such as Docker
- Familiarity with gcloud or aws cli
- Proficiency in Python 3.8 and BASH
- Proficient understanding of Git and GitLab CICD
- Knowledge of Testing and Tooling, with tools like PHPUnit and JUnit, CypressJS and Selenium
- Demonstrable proficiency in Elasticsearch
- Proficient understanding of OpenTelemetry and observability platforms like NewRelic
- Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and REST APIs, AJAX and WPGraphQL
- Proficiency in WP_Query and custom MySql queries
- Practical knowledge of CDN technologies such as Cloudflare, Fastly or Akamai
- Good documentation skills
- Nice To Have Skills: Understanding NodeJS as well as npm task runners such as WebPack, Vite, or gulp
- Familiarity with JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as Vue, React, Angular
- Message Queueing systems such as AWS SQS, Google Cloud Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ
- Practical knowledge of AWS Lambdas, CloudFlare Workers or Google Cloud Functions
