About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Research New Mexico and applicable law on liability, damages, coverage, and procedural issues in personal injury and premises liability matters
- Monitor and summarize developments in New Mexico case law, statutes, and court rules
- Prepare motions, responses, briefs, and legal memoranda for pre-litigation and litigation case teams
- Draft discovery-related legal analysis and assist with pleadings as needed
- Collaborate with trial attorneys and Team Leads to identify legal issues, anticipate defense arguments, and strengthen case positions
- Provide research support for settlement negotiations, mediation, and trial preparation
- Deliver timely, well-supported written work product meeting firm quality standards
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure cases move efficiently through the process
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active license to practice law in New Mexico, or eligibility for admission
- Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills
- Ability to translate research into persuasive, well-supported drafts
- Experience drafting motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation documents
- Personal injury or civil litigation experience preferred
- Insurance defense or appellate background is a plus
- Ability to collaborate with trial attorneys and Team Leads across multiple case teams
- Ability to manage competing deadlines
