About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Research New Mexico and applicable law on liability, damages, coverage, and procedural issues in personal injury and premises liability matters
Monitor and summarize developments in New Mexico case law, statutes, and court rules
Prepare motions, responses, briefs, and legal memoranda for pre-litigation and litigation case teams
Draft discovery-related legal analysis and assist with pleadings
Collaborate with trial attorneys and Team Leads to identify legal issues, anticipate defense arguments, and strengthen case positions
Provide research support for settlement negotiations, mediation, and trial preparation
Deliver timely, well-supported written work product meeting firm quality standards
Collaborate with attorneys and staff to ensure cases move efficiently through the process
Provide legal analysis and drafting that support trial attorneys’ advocacy and maximize recovery for injured clients

Requirements

What you’ll need

Active license to practice law in New Mexico, or eligibility for admission
Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills
Ability to translate research into persuasive, well-supported drafts
Experience drafting motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation documents
Personal injury or civil litigation experience preferred
Insurance defense or appellate background is a plus
Ability to collaborate with trial attorneys and Team Leads across multiple case teams
Ability to manage competing deadlines
