About the role
- Lead a Commercial Lines underwriting unit, including coaching, training, staffing, and performance management.
- Guide the team to achieve corporate and departmental objectives related to loss ratio, premium growth, policy growth, and customer service.
- Provide daily underwriting guidance and support to ensure sound decision-making and consistent execution.
- Establish, maintain, and reinforce underwriting discipline, structure, and philosophy.
- Monitor compliance with underwriting policies, practices, and standards.
- Partner with Product Development to support the creation and enhancement of commercial insurance products.
- Contribute to departmental and enterprise-wide initiatives and projects.
- Develop and maintain Commercial Lines duty reports and related documentation.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, continuing education, and leadership growth.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Insurance Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of five years of Commercial Lines underwriting experience.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Professional designations such as AU or CPCU preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with business applications and keyboarding skills.
- A leadership mindset focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
