About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead a team of risk analysts to deliver profit and growth targets through adjustments to the Telematics footprint
Identify and lead opportunities to expand the competitive footprint or rectify unprofitable segments
Develop and deliver innovative approaches to manage and control underwriting risk when expanding into new footprint segments
Analyse risk using loss ratios and supporting KPIs
Turn performance insights into clear recommendations shaping portfolio decisions
Engage stakeholders to help shape strategic growth pathways
Lead and support risk analysts through peer reviews, coaching and mentoring
Ensure customers’ fair and reasonable expectations are met and provide fair outcomes
Question and challenge processes, procedures, peers, and managers when customer interests are not central

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong commercial awareness and understanding of what makes a successful and profitable business
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Advanced programming language skills in R, Python, SQL, Radar, or another coding-based language
Proactive approach to driving change
Ability to think strategically about long-term goals and balance short-term objectives
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Confidence to express opinions and challenge
Pricing/analytics experience in the financial services sector
Knowledge of the insurance market and competitors
Good understanding of underwriting principles
Successful completion of referencing process, including credit and criminal record checks
