About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build Harvey's government affairs and public policy function from scratch
- Establish the strategy, engagement framework, stakeholder relationships, and policy positions
- Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, regulators, bar associations, judicial, legislative, and regulatory bodies
- Develop Harvey's public policy narrative with the Chief Strategy Officer, senior legal leadership, and communications
- Maintain bipartisan and cross-jurisdictional institutional credibility
- Advocate for positions supporting Harvey’s product strategy and the broader legal profession
- Bridge the external policy environment with product and go-to-market teams
- Surface emerging compliance requirements, public-sector opportunities, and ethically complex AI and legal issues
- Help position Harvey to serve government legal departments and regulated industries
- Hire and develop regional government affairs managers across key markets
- Establish stakeholder tracking, regulatory monitoring, and policy calendar infrastructure
- Report directly to the Chief Strategy Officer
Requirements
What you’ll need- Career defined by progressive depth in public policy, government affairs, or regulatory work
- Experience in-house at a major technology or professional services company, in senior government or regulatory roles, or in a senior advisory capacity at a leading firm
- J.D. strongly preferred
- Experience building a function, setting strategy, and establishing relationships from a standing start, or significantly expanding scope within a larger organization
- Deep, trusted relationships with senior government, regulatory, and institutional stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions
- Substantive familiarity with the legal industry, judiciary, or regulatory environment around legal services and AI
- Bipartisan credibility and intellectual integrity
- Conviction about AI’s role in improving legal services and expanding access to justice
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for high-stakes, high-visibility settings
- Principled judgment in politically, ethically, or commercially complex environments
